Colectric facilitates cost savings through project management and consulting services—embodied in our Electric Power Generation Project Initiative.

The Electric Power Generation Project Initiative helps public power utilities produce multiple projects that are highly reliable, cost-effective and marketplace-competitive. This involves reliance on common equipment suppliers, standardized system designs and referencing project-technical specifications.

Colectric assists its members in applying best practices such as "pre-project planning," "constructability" and "team building" to reduce owner costs and risks for capital projects. More importantly, it involves ready access to qualified professionals with decades of experience in managing successful power generation projects.

In addition, Colectric's Electric Power Generation Project Initiative is a program that generates substantial scale economies going forward. Specific opportunities for savings encompass spare parts pricing, spare parts inventory optimization, training, performance monitoring, operational problem resolution and future plant betterment projects.
